A Brewster man was found guilty of rape and sexual assault on Monday.
Julio Soto, 37, was arrested Jan. 2013 in Brewster after the victim reported the attack to a counselor.
Soto remains in custody at the Putnam County Jail until his sentencing before Judge James Reitz on April 21. He faces up to 50 years in prison and lifetime sex offender status.
The trial lasted six days in Putnam County Supreme Court in Carmel.
“Julio Soto violently and repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted an innocent woman, and the unanimous jury verdict will ensure he never has the opportunity to do it again,” Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy said in a statement. “I commend the jury for their thoughtful and careful deliberations following several days of very difficult testimony.”
