NEW MILFORD — After a three-week investigation, police have arrested a man they said robbed the town’s Bank of America branch last month.
Curt Jones, 39, of Jontham Road, New Milford, was charged Tuesday night with first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny.
Lt. Lawrence Ash said the man was identified early in the investigation by a school resource officer who recognized him through video surveillance. Once certain evidence, including fingerprints, was examined at the state laboratory, detectives were able to establish probable cause to arrest Jones, according to police.
The suspect left the Main Street bank with about $2,700 that day, Ash said. Police have applied for a search warrant of his house to determine if any of the money is recoverable.
Jones indicated during the Feb. 25 robbery that he had a gun, but police have yet to determine whether that was true. No one was injured during the incident.
He was held in lieu of $100,000 and was scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Bantam Wednesday morning.
