DANBURY – The family of the 17-year-old driver killed in a one-car crash in Danbury over the weekend will receive friends at St. Peter Church on Thursday from 4:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Fausto “Junior” De Los Santos was traveling eastbound on Crows Nest Lane when his Chevy Cobalt veered off the road, went airborne and ran into a large tree, police said.

Danbury firefighters and police officers discovered De Los Santos inside the severely crushed vehicle at about 8 a.m. Sunday. He was the sole occupant in the car, police said.

De Los Santos had turned 17 on April 2 and he was a student at Henry Abbott Technical High School, where he was studying carpentry.

The teen enjoyed soccer, ice skating, boating and jet skiing, according to an obituary prepared by Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home and published in Wednesday’s News-Times.

“Most especially, he enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends,” the obituary states.

He is survived by his parents, Karen and Fausto De Los Santos; two sisters; his paternal grandparents; four nieces; two nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends.

A mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Thursday in St. Peter Church, 121 Main St. Interment will be private and at the direction of the family.
