The second annual Ridgefield Gone Country Barbecue Festival will be held May 2-3 at the Lounsbury House, Ridgefield’s Community Center, at 316 Main Street.

The event will host two national barbecue competitions amid a carnival, featuring rides, music, concessions and other entertainment.

The festival will benefit the Ridgefield Rotary and the Lounsbury House and will feature other cuisines from local restaurants, including brick-oven pizzas, fresh lobster rolls, turkey legs, Greek food, smoothies, ices, ice cream and fried desserts.

There will also be mechanical bull rides and a dunk tank featuring special guests.

The two competitions are the New England BBQ Society (NEBS), which will take place Saturday and feature New England grillers using Southern-style techniques, and the Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) on Sunday, featuring chefs dedicated to the art of hardwood smoking. Winners of each competition will be announced at 4 p.m. each day.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and free for children 12 and under. The event hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit ridgefieldbbqct.com.
