BROOKFIELD — Steve Dunn is upset with the Republican majorities in the Boards of Selectmen and Finance in town, and has decided he wants to do something to combat it, announcing Friday that he’ll seek the Democratic nomination for First Selectman.

“The main thing is we now have a current administration that’s not listening to the town, at all,” Dunn told the News-Times. “Not the First Selectman or Board of Finance. They seem to have an agenda they follow.”

A 32-year resident of the town, Dunn, 59, is retired from his job on Wall Street with JPMorgan Chase. He has four children, all Brookfield High grads, and wants to make supporting the town’s schools a priority.

“We need to pay it forward,” he said. “We need to maintain schools for all of our children. Not just yours, not just mine. I think children are a good investment for our citizenry.”

Dunn and his wife were instrumental in the Brookfield Track Restoration Fund, he said, and he’s also been involved with the Boy Scouts and baseball and softball associations in town.

First Selectman Bill Tinsley was not immediately available for comment. Tinsley was elected in November 2013 over Democrat Howard Lasser.
