An event honoring the life of one of the students killed at Sandy Hook will ride again Sunday.

The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard is hosting Pony Rides for a Purpose from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4 Wildlife Dr. in Newtown. The event is held in memory of Jessica Rekos, who loved horses.

There will be pony rides, K9 Comfort Dogs, visitors from Beardsley Zoo, jugglers, arts and crafts, live music and face paining. There will also be a silent auction and raffles.

It costs $10 a child and adults are free. All proceeds go to the Jessica Rekos Foundation to provide horse riding opportunities to children who might not have the opportunity.

The event began in January 2013 when King’s Bridge Farm wanted to do something special for the Rekos family. It’s grown to be a bigger celebration in remembrance of Jessica’s life and her love of horses.
