Cops: Dealer caught selling crack in Danbury

A drug dealer was arrested with crack cocaine and heroin after a drug transaction in downtown Danbury Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Officers conducting surveillance in the area of Main Street and Elmwood Place at about 1 p.m. saw a hand-to-hand deal between Jerome Weathers, 43, and Patricia Gibson, 33, according to the report.

Weathers, the suspected dealer, took off running when officers approached him, but he was eventually taken into custody after a brief pursuit and struggle, police said. He had heroin and crack cocaine, according to police.

Weathers, a New Street resident in Danbury, was charged with sale of illegal drugs, possession of controlled substances with intent to sell, distribution of controlled substances within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, and interfering with an officer.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Gibson, who’s also from Danbury, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school and use of drug paraphernalia. Police said she had crack cocaine in her possession.

She was released on a promise to appear May 6 in court.
