The second of a series of films and community discussions regarding civil rights will be held at the Brookfield Public Library, 182 Whisconier Road, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The film, “The Loving Story,” tells the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, who were arrested in July 1958 in Virginia for violating a state law banning inter-race marriages. The movie asserts that the Lovings were woken up in the middle of the night in their bedroom and arrested.
The discussion after the film will be led by Dr. Robbin Smith, an associate professor of political science at Central Connecticut State.
The Community Room of the library will host the event, which will have a light dinner beforehand, at 6 p.m. Registration for the dinner is free, but required, at 203-775-6241 or online at brookfieldlibrary.org.
