DANBURY — Brian Stroh, a former Bethel elementary school teacher accused of sexually assaulting three children, has replaced his attorney with a high-profile criminal lawyer and author.

Stroh, 30, of New Fairfield, hired New Haven-based Norman Pattis to represent him on the charges of fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

Pattis asked Judge Kevin Russo in state Superior Court in Danbury Wednesday morning for a “longer-than-usual continuance” so he can review hundreds of pages of documents related to the case. Stroh will return to court July 22.

The former Berry Elementary School first-grade teacher was arrested March 9 after Connecticut State Police said he sexually assaulted three boys — ages 6, 9, and 11 — in New Fairfield.

He was released from custody three weeks later after posting $250,000 bond.

Authorities have withheld any details of the incidents and the arrest warrant remains sealed, but officials have said that no crime occurred on school grounds.

Stroh was first represented by Danbury attorney Kevin Chamberlin, who said Wednesday that he doesn’t mind being replaced by Pattis. Chamberlin described Pattis, who’s also a blogger, as a reputable lawyer.
