NEW MILFORD — A police chase Wednesday afternoon led to the arrest of a New Milford man.
Cortland Bennett, 25, was arrested about 5 p.m. Wednesday after New Milford Police attempted to stop a red Honda Civic he was driving as part of an investigation they and Bethel and Danbury police departments were conducting.
Bennett led officers on a chase along Danbury Road and stop sticks were deployed, flattening the passenger side tires of his vehicle, police said.. After a short low speed pursuit, Bennett was apprehended at Danbury Road and Bridge Street. After a brief struggle, he was arrested, according to police.
Bennett was charged with interfering with a police officer, disobeying signals of a police officer/eluding; reckless driving and second-degree reckless endangerment.
He was released on $7,500 bond with a court date May 18 in Superior Court in Bantam.
