Candlewood Lake Authority will receive $50,000 from FirstLight for lake management in July 2015
NEW MILFORD — FirstLight Power Resources has agreed to fully contribute to the Candlewood Lake Authority for the coming fiscal year.
FirstLight will give $50,000 to the CLA for 2015-16 lake management. The hydro-generation company had reduced their contribution to $10,000 and included the CLA as agencies and organization able to apple for grants through the newly established Houstatonic Region Fund.
FirstLight agreed to full funding at the urging of U.S. senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy and U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty.
“I am pleased FirstLight listened to my concerns and the concerns of local community leaders and agreed to pay their fair share this year,” Murphy said. “Candlewood Lake is a regional treasure and its caretakers need to be able to rely on consistent support.
