Man hit, killed by truck in Danbury

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY 1:48 P.M.

Police have identified the victim in this morning’s fatal accident as Marcio DaSilva, 58, of Danbury.

The accident happened on the Winters Bros. property just before 7 a.m.

The driver of the All American Waste garbage truck was Sylvie Dzamko, 46, of Danbury.

The accident is still under investigation. Representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration also were at the property investigating.

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY 8:33 A.M.

The man who died at Winter Brothers Wednesday morning was a 57-year-old employee of the transfer station, Assistant Fire Chief Mark Omasta said.

Police are still on the scene investigating, but it appears that a garbage truck was backing up when it hit him, Omasta said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the location. The driver of the truck and a witness were taken to the hospital for evaluation, Omasta said.

DANBURY — A man died this morning after he was hit by a truck at Winters Brothers, a transfer station at 307 White St., authorities said.

Assistant Fire Chief Mark Omasta said the accident happened at about 7 a.m.
