SOUTHBURY – Crews from five different towns battled a large brush fire Tuesday night that consumed at least 10 acres before it was finally extinguished several hours later, an official said.
The fire started at about 7 p.m. and burned an area parallel to the Housatonic River on River Road, Southbury Fire Marshal Barry Rickert said.
No one was injured and there was no structural damage, he said.
An initial investigation indicates a camp fire may have started the brush fire, Rickert said.
Southbury firefighters were assisted by crews from Newtown, Oxford, Roxbury and Woodbury.
