NEWTOWN — A Newtown High School student was arrested May 4 after a bomb threat note was found in one of the school bathrooms, police said.
Several students who found the written message brought the note to school administrators, who “immediately recognized” the writing, police said in a news release Tuesday.
The suspect, who was not identified because of his age, admitted to writing it and the threat was found not to be credible, police said.
The narrative of the note suggested that the suspect was trying to get another student in trouble, as the threat was signed with a different name, according to the release.
The juvenile was charged with first-degree threatening and falsely reporting an incident. He’s scheduled to appear in juvenile court on June 1.
