NEWTOWN – The Sandy Hook principal who was shot to death with five other educators and 20 first-graders two years ago will receive her doctorate posthumously on Saturday from a New York college.
Dawn Hochsprung had been a doctoral candidate at The Esteves School of Education in Troy, N.Y., where she was pursuing a Ph.D. in educational leadership. She would have graduated on Saturday.
Following her death, the college established an education center in her honor. The Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung Center for the Promotion of Mental Health and School Safety was created to find ways to maximize safe school environments.
