BETHEL – The annual Memorial Day Parade returns to downtown Bethel this Sunday, May 17.
The event starts at 2 p.m. and runs through Greenwood Avenue up to the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center on School Street.
At the end of the parade, the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department will be celebrating the birthday of its oldest piece of apparatus: a hand-pulled pumper known as “Old Forgotten.” Manufactured in 1815, it was one of 25 made that year and is now one of three left in the world.
Food, refreshments and tours of the firehouse will be offered.
The weather for Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 80 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
