Screening for Skin Cancer is Free in Danbury Tuesday, Wednesday

DANBURY – Skin cancer screenings will be free Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital. The screenings will be provided free between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. both nights.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in the United States, and it can be treated if it is detected early.

People who have never had their skin checked for cancer are encouraged to attend. Screenings will be conducted by qualified dermatologists with support from the hospital staff.

No registration is required. Participants should park in the Red Parking Garage on Locust Avenue and enter through the Danbury Hospital Stroock Building entrance.

Risk factors for skin cancer include

  • fair skin that freckles or burns easily
  • personal or family history of skin cancer
  • high sun exposure, multiple sun burns
