BETHEL – A local team is hosting a concert and fundraiser this weekend to promote the upcoming Relay for Life annual event.
Saturday’s free program will take place at Greenwood’s Grille, 186 Greenwood Ave., from 12 to 9 p.m. and will feature raffles, face painting, crafts and nine bands.
The event is to raise money for the Warrior Wendy team, led by Wendy Mitchell, a Bethel woman who’s battling a rare type of breast cancer, called “metaplastic carcinoma.”
Mitchell, a musician and art lover, is also raising money for a documentary called #MyLeftBoob.
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at Bethel High School is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. June 12. The town has at least 47 teams and 255 participants, according to the organization’s website.
For more information on Saturday’s concert, email Mitchell at wendyannmitchell@live.com.
