DANBURY — A woman who had been banned from the Danbury Public Library was arrested Tuesday after violating the ban and threatening to hit people in the downtown area, police said.

Officers were called to the library for a complaint that Theresa Harris, who had been permanently banned from the building on May 4, had caused a disturbance at the facility, according to the report.

Harris, 45, of Danbury, had left the library when police arrived, but officers soon learned that she was involved in a fight on the corner of Main and White streets, police said. When they arrived there, officers saw the woman screaming while trying to hit several people, the report said.

Harris was charged with breach of peace and criminal trespass. She was held on $1,000 bond.
