NEW MILFORD — A police chase on Danbury Road in the vicinity of Faith Church led to the arrest of a 33-year-old Sherman woman for drunken driving.

On Thursday at approximately 8:20 p.m. officers were dispatched to the area of 600 Danbury Road for the report of a grey Volkswagen Passat swerving through lanes and having struck a wall on the Route 7 by pass, police said.

Melissa Tindale, of Green Pond Road, Sherman was found to be the driver of the vehicle. Officers located Tindale’s vehicle driving in the middle of two northbound lanes on Danbury Road (Route 7), police said.

Tindale continued driving for approximately one-half hour as officers attempted to stop her vehicle, police said. She failed to yield to emergency lights and siren from the police car, police said.

Tindale later stopped the vehicle and subsequently failed field sobriety tests, according to police. She was arrest and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, disobeying signals from an officer, failure to drive in the proper lane on a multi-lane highway, making a restricted turn/failure to signal properly, and having insurance coverage that failed the minimum requirement.

Tindale was released on $1,000 bond with a court date of Jan. 6 in Superior Court in Bantam.
