Jupiter in January

The planet Jupiter – by far, the largest  in the solar system – is on display in the night sky all month.

It will be the brightest thing in the sky, rising in the northeast. By midnight, it will be high in the sky.

The planet is now as close as it will be to Earth until 2020, so it is very bright. Binoculars will let you see it as a small, white disk. A telescope will let you see its true stripes and maybe, it’s famous red spot.

Here’s a picture:jupiter-11-20-kwon.
