DANBURY — Since forming his exploratory committee for a run for governor in August, Mayor Mark Boughton said Wednesday that he has traveled across the state and found an “appetite for a Boughton candidacy.”
“We feel that it is there,” he said.
Boughton said he found in his conversations with state residents that their concerns are centered on economic recovery and that for most “it’s not getting better it’s getting worse … these folks aren’t feeling the economic recovery.”
He understands those concerns, he said, because he has “experienced the same things.”
“I’m a blue collar Republican. I’ve experienced the same things . I’m having the same problems they’re having,” he said. “People get that I’m just like them … I’m not a millionaire. I’m a thousand-aire. I’ve got about $1,000 bucks in the bank.”
