The Association of Religious Communities is asking for volunteers to help run the town’s emergency shelter for the homeless at the First Congregational Church on Deer Hill Avenue.
The volunteers’ shift begins at 9 p.m. at ends around 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. the next day. The shelter provides a needed p[lace of safety for the city’s homeless. It has 25 cots and usually gets between 18 and 25 people a night. The volunteers would have to stay one night a week.
