Connecticut Association for the Gifted has received a $10,000 grant from the Fairfield County Community Foundation
The grant is to generate awareness of the needs of gifted and high-potential children in all socio-economic, cultural, and racial groups, to generate support for strengthening education for gifted and high-potential students, and to let Fairfield County residents know that CAG is the best resource to meet the needs of gifted and high-potential students.
This project will allow more children to be identified and encouraged.
Research done by the Center for Evaluation and Education Policy at Indiana University found there is an “Excellence Gap” – that lower socio-economic demographic groups, as well as English Language Learners and Hispanic and Black students, were underrepresented at the highest levels of academic achievement, far below their counterparts.
The Connecticut Association for the Gifted was founded in 1969 and serves as a parent, teacher, and school resource and legislative advocate for Connecticut’s gifted and talented students
