Deborah Low, who has served as the Ridgefield superintendent of schools for the past seven years, will retired in June, at the end of the 2013-14 school year.
Low announced her decision at a school board meeting Monday.
“I don’t like using clichés, but in this instance, I can’t avoid it,” wrote Ms. Low in a statement to faculty, students and community members. “It is with mixed feelings that I announce my plans to retire at the end of the school year.
“It has been an honor serving as superintendent of the Ridgefield Public Schools,” she said. “The excellent faculty and leadership team, motivated and amazing students, engaged parents and supportive community have made the past seven years the best of my career.”
