Ridgefield School superintendent Deborah Low has recommended the Board of Education approve a $85.6 million budget for the 2014-15 school year.
Low’s proposed budget is a $2.76 million , or 3.34 percent increase over the current school budget of $82.8 million.
If approved, it will be the largest school budget increase since the 2008-09 school year, when school spending went up by 4.58 percent.
The main increase in the budget is in staffing, with both teachers and school psychologists added to the staff roster.
The school board will work with Low’s recommendations in budget meetings throughout the month before adopting a proposed budget.
There will be two budget hearings – on Feb. 8 and Feb. 10 – before the board votes on a budget on Feb. 24.
The Board of Finance can alter the budget before it It will face voters in May.
