In recognition of Martin Luther King Day, Congregation Adath Israel of Newtown will host a renowned Hartford gospel choir in the synagogue sanctuary at 7:30 p.m. Friday Jan. 17. Voices LLC, of Hartford, will perform to honor the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The choir will take the stage at approximately 8 p.m. after a traditional Hebrew prayer service beginning at 7:30 pm. Refreshments will be served when the program ends at 8:45 p.m.
Voices LLC has performed for a variety of organizations around Connecticut, including the Black Catholic Ministries, the American Diabetes Association, the Connecticut Department of Children & Families, and Connecticut Department of Public Safety. Voices’ mission is to intensify the loving power of God through music.
“We are privileged and delighted to host Voices LLC in our sanctuary,” said Rabbi Shaul Praver, spiritual leader of Congregation Adath Israel. “While our faith practices are different, our desire to magnify loving kindness and compassion in the world is the same.”
All are invited and admission is free. The temple is at 115 Huntingtown Road in Newtown.
