Hartford Superior Court Judge Kevin Dubay today denied the motions of the State of Connecticut that sought to modify the court’s December 2011 scheduling order and push to 2015 a trial on the lawsuit of the Connecticut Coalition for Justice in Education Funding.
The coalition of municipalities, boards of education, education associations, unions, and parents
and schoolchildren aged 18 or older, and other concerned Connecticut taxpayers, sued the state with the goal of getting the state to adequately and equitably fund PK-12 public education system so it provides the real cost of delivering high-quality education in every community.
The trial will start in July with a 3-week interruption in August (to accommodate his vacation) or commence in September and run continuously on a 4- or 5-day per week schedule for as many weeks or months as necessary. That specific ruling will come later.
