A Danbury man faces drunken driving and other charges as the result of a pursuit on Interstate 684 late Wednesday that began in Bedford, N.Y and ended after he crashed into a state police cruiser in Southeast.
Angel M. Garcia, 36, was also cited for unlawful fleeing a police officer and reckless driving as a result of the incident that began at 11:05 p.m., state police said.
Troopers from the Somers barracks initially tried to stop Garcia after he was observed traveling in excess of 90 miles per hour, but he ignored the lights and sirens and kept going, police said.
After hitting a cruiser on the highway in Southeast, Garcia tried to continue driving, but couldn’t because of the damage to his car, police said. He suffered minor injuries.
Garcia provided a positive breath sample that yielded a blood alcohol level of .10 and was arraigned in the Town of Bedford Court, according to police.
