The Causeway Marina _ also known as the Cottonwood Cove Marina – on Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield is being evicted.
FirstLight Power Resources, the hydroelectric utility that which owns the lake, announced the evictions Thursday.
FirstLight said in the announcement, that it has successfully renegotiated the leases for the seven other commercial s marinas on the lake. Under its license with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, FirstLight is allowed to lease property on the lake for commercial marina use.
However, FirstLight said it was unable to come to terms with The Causeway Marina, which is located on the causeway to Candlewood Isle and would post eviction notices on the property. the marina will not operate in 2014.
The utility said the Connecticut Supreme Court this year refused to hear an appeal from the marina’s operator, First Black Ink LLC on the eviction proceeding.
The marina has been operating for several years without a lease and without paying rent to FirstLight, the utility said.
