The CT Department of Transportation will remove and replace the Route 58 bridge over Putnam Brook near Sara’s Way this weekend.
The work includes the removal of the existing stone masonry culvert, installation of a precast concrete box culvert and wing walls, along with new drainage and pavement.
It means that both northbound and southbound lanes of Route 58 will be closed between Hoyts Hill Road and Saras Way on Route 58 beginning Friday at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 through Tuesday, 6 a.m. Sept. 24.
Detour signs will direct motorists around the closure.
Motorists will be detoured from Route 58 at Milwaukee Avenue and Route 302 onto Grassy Plain Road/Redding Road (Route 53) to Hill Road/Lonetown Road (Route 107) and back onto Putnam Park Road (Route 58).
DOT Project No. 0009-0094 was awarded to Waters Construction Company from Bridgeport, CT at a cost of $ 772,766.00 on April 2, 2013, and is scheduled to be completed in September 2013.
