NEW FAIRFIELD — State Environmental Conservation Police are investigating the death of a 74-year-old New Fairfield woman whose body was found in the woods on Friday after an accident that apparently occurred Thursday evening.
It couldn’t be learned on Sunday whether the woman, Phyllis Kluborg, of Hemlock Trail on Candlewood Isle, succumbed as a result of her injuries or was disoriented after the accident, wandered away from the car and perished from exposure.
Her husband, Allen Kluborg, confirmed that his wife was the victim but said he didn’t want to make any comment.
Kluborg’s vehicle was discovered in a ditch on Friday, prompting a search of the Pootatuck State Forest that Cynthia Chanaca of the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said included EnCon Police, state police from the Troop L barracks in Litchfield and a police K-9,
The investigation is continuing, Chanaca said.
