The Newtown Board of Education will have a special meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in the Reed Intermediate School library.
The board agenda will include interviews, and possible appointment, of an interim high school principal to replace Charles “Chip” Dumais.
After that vote, the board is scheduled to discuss a security budget. The Board of Education last week voted on an operations budget of $71 million with a zero increase for next year, but tabled making a decision about security costs. The full budget must be forwarded to Finance Director Robert Tait by Feb. 14.
Public comment is allowed at the meetings.
