Ridgefield zoners study mixed-use regulations

How many apartments can mix with office buildings in Ridgefield?
The Planning and Zoning Commission, facing a request to expand its zoning regulations on the issue, decided Tuesday not to rush into anything.
Currently, Town Planner Betty Brosius said the regulations limit the number of apartments over office to two per acre. But plans for a proposed mixed-use project on a half-acre lot on Governor Street is asking the commission to change its regulations to allow four apartments there.
That change would mean that the town would allow 8 apartments per acre for the first 2.5 acres, or a maximum of 20 apartments on a 2.5 acre lot.
Fearing that might be too great an expansion, Brosius said, the commission adjourned the hearing without taking a vote. It will reopen the hearing at its Dec. 17 meeting, Brosius said
