The Brookfield Republican Town Committee on Tuesday selected new leadership, including a new chairman to replace Selectman Marty Flynn who opted to step down so as to concentrate more on his new town duties.
The new chairman is Matt Grimes, a veteran political leader who is also chairman of the Charter Revision Commission and vice-chairman of the elected Zoning Commission.
Grimes, a Brookfield High School graduate, started his political service in the community when he was elected in November 2001 to the Board of Education just after graduating from the University of Richmond in May.
From 2003 to 2005, Grimes was the board chairman. He is employed as an insurance adjuster, and recently earned his law degree from the University of Connecticut.
Joining the leadership team are the following: former Selectman George Walker as vice-chairman; new Board of Education Steve Harding as secretary; Planning Commission member Linda Taylor is corresponding secretary and former Board of Finance chairman Jerry Friedrich is the temporary treasurer; a new treasurer is expected to be appointed soon.
