Danbury school officials and the police department increased security at Danbury High School this week in response to a report from Torrington Police who say she threatened to commit acts of violence against schools in Danbury and Stratford.

Police said 18-year-old Natalie Carpenter was arrested Tuesday after making verbal threats against the schools. She was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault.

Danbury Superintendent Sal Pascarella made a call home to parents Tuesday after noon after learning about the threat, though he said he was assured there was no imminent danger.

“There was no immediate threat but we were all on alert,” he said. “We have increased security on campus and in the area.”

Pascarella said the individuals who made the threats were not former students.

She was arraigned Wednesday in Litchfield County and her bond has been set at $300,000.

Carpenter’s arrest warrant was sealed and it was not immediately clear which schools she had allegedly threatened or what her connections are to those areas.
