The identity of a homeless man found dead under a railroad overpass Feb. 27 in Danbury is now known to be Francisco Raimundo Perez, 42, from Camutan, Chiquimula, Guatemala.
Perez was known as “Chico” or “Francisco” by people who knew him in Danbury. Police said he appears to have frozen to death. His body was found under a railroad overpass on Rose Street in Danbury.
People who knew Perez said he had been spending the night at the Dorothy Day shelter on Spring Street, but left in the middle of the night of his own volition.
The Guatemalan Consulate in New York City could not be reached Saturday. A copy of Perez consular identification was provided to The News-Times by an acquaintance.
