Parent University offers programs to empower families

For all parents who ever wanted some professional advice on how best to cope with children and teenagers, the Newtown Parent Connection and Brookfield CARES are partnering to offer a day-long program, complete with activities for children, that is intended to offer a smorgasbord of information that one can pick and choose.

Called Parent Empowerment University, the event scheduled for Sat., March 22 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Newtown Middle School will feature author Dr. Jane Nelson speaking about positive discipline. But their will be a variety of other workshops that include how to be savvy about technology, creating compassion in one’s home, learning the technique called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Tapping as well as session with teenagers speaking about peer pressure and substance abuse issues. All of this and more for just $5 per person.

The Kid’s University will also be offered for children ages 3 to 11.

The program will include a continental breakfast and complimentary lunch.
