Taylor Weston of Bridgewater is a Shepaug High School senior who in December had the rare opportunity to travel to Nepal and see the appalling state of health care in that country. Devoted to becoming a doctor who wants to help Third World nations enhance their health care opportunities, Taylor’s eyes were opened wide during her visit where she actually witnessed surgeries, helped bandage wounds that would be unlikely here and just offer comfort to the masses who wait in lines for hours to visit a simple community clinic.

On April 11, Taylor will do a fundraiser dinner with a talk and Powerpoint presentation of her trip at the Bridgewater Congregational Church. She has segued her trip into her senior project that includes community outreach.

She will also be selling some of the hand-crafted souveniers she brought back from Nepal, including various wood figurines, tapestry products and other such treasures. A particular favorite will surely be the dark chocolate-shaped elephants on a stick. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors; children eat free.

Come and support this enterprising young woman who has great tales to tell.
