NEWTOWN - An electrical short in a gutter heating system triggered a fire that damaged a house at 54 Mount Pleasant Road Saturday evening.
Fire Marshal Bill Halstead said two people were home when the blaze broke out about 8:30 p.m. They smelled smoke, spotted the fire and called 911.
Flames were showing along the eaves of the home when firefighters arrived, but damage “wasn’t that bad,” Halstead said.
Firefighters were able to isolated the damaged circuit and restore power to the rest of the house before they left.
