Climate changing is happening around the globe. It’s a fact of life.
And humans, by and large, aren’t prepared to dealing with the changes global warming will bring.
That’s the conclusion of the second of four reports by the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change. It was released on Monday.
The panel, is, in fact, a huge undertaking by the United Nations to study climate change. It’s a collaboration of scientists and government officials and its conclusions tend to be on the conservative side.
This report points out that already, there is evidence that climate change is changing weather, with shifting patterns of precipitation. Andimal and plants species are responding by shifting their locations.
The report concludes that the impact of climate change on agriculture will probably be negative, rather than positive.
And its says “climate-related hazards exacerbate other stressors, often with negative outcomes for livelihoods, especially for people living in poverty.
