DANBURY — The rain and snow expected to make its way to the Danbury area this morning will likely be the start to a stretch of weather that could make the year’s biggest travel weekend a huge headache.

A slight chance of rain and snow this morning will turn to strictly rain this afternoon amid a high temperature of 39 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The onslaught leaves open a risk of flooding in urban areas and to small streams and rivers, according to NWS.

From there, rain, occasionally heavy, and sleet will continue on and off through Wednesday, as temperatures rise into the 50s.

By Thanksgiving day the precipitation should make its way out of the area as colder temperatures return with a high near 31 degrees on Thursday.

Thanksgiving day and eve are the busiest traffic days of the year in the state, according to state police.
