End of an Era: O’Brien sits last meeting

Monday night New Milford Town Council member Ray O’Brien served in his final meeting of a 41-year career of town service.

O’Brien, 77, was a member of the Board of Selectmen/Town Council since 1975. He served on the Sewer Commission from 1970 to 1975; the Connecticut Resource Recovery authority Board of Directors from 2002- 2010, the Elementary School Building Committee and the Middle School Building committee and the Community Ambulance Facility Building Committee.

He is a past town representative to the Housatonic Resource Recovery Authority (HRRA) serving from 1989 -1993 and again from 2003-2007.

Monday he was presented with a plaque by Mayor Pat Murphy and received a standing round of applause from his fellow Town Council members.

“It has been a great and rare privilege to serve a tenure that covered 41 of the past 43 years,” O’Brien said.
