The 2014 Connecticut Student Film Festival will be held at the Palace Theater, Waterbury CT., on Friday April 25th at 4.30pm.
The festival will showcase work from more than 500 students taking part in the Center for 21st Century Skill’s Digital Media and Movie Making program, Digital Story Telling program, 84 Hour Film Challenge, 90-SECOND Film Challenge, and the Preserving Our Histories program.
Newtown High School competes in the Preserving Our Histories Program.
Bethel, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newington, Pomperaug, and Shepaug Valley Regional high schools compete in other high school categories.
At the middle school level, Danbury’s Broadview Middle School and Shepaug Valley Middle School will have entries.
The festival is the culminating experience for Connecticut middle, high school, and community college students engaged in a variety of innovative, cross-curricular digital media and movie making programs.
Award categories include 90-SECOND Film Challenge, Outstanding History Short, Outstanding Documentary Short and Outstanding Fictional Short.
These initiatives are a collaborative effort by Connecticut businesses, government, K-12 education, higher education, and not-for-profit organizations that support programs for Connecticut urban, suburban, and rural students and teachers.
Films will be presented in their respective categories with awards presented by industry professionals and college faculty.
The 2014 Connecticut Student Film Festival is produced by EDUCATION CONNECTION’s Center for 21st Century Skills in collaboration with the National Science Foundation, CT Department of Labor, UCONN Digital Media and Design, Center for New Media at Middlesex Community College, ProductionConn, Next Generation Manufacturing Center, Powerstation Events and the Palace Theater.
