KENT — The state beach in Kent on Lake Waramuag was reopened Tuesday by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
The beach had been closed since last week when a routine bacteria sampling was done by the DEEP. Indicator bacteria are not disease carrying pathogen but are a tool used to evaluate the potential for contamination, according to the DEEP website.
The lake’s water was retested Monday with results allowing for the reopening of the beach Tuesday.
