Town turnout numbers are in for last weeks GOP primary elections and two Fairfield County towns are at the bottom of the list.
New Fairfield and Ridgefield have the two lowest numbers of turnout in the entire state. According to the Secretary of the State’s office, these numbers have been updated with amended head moderator returns.
As of this year New Fairfield has 2,899 registered Republicans, however, only 298 of them came out to the polls. Giving the town the lowest turnout percentage of 10.3 percent.
Ridgefield has a similar turnout percentage of 10.5 percent. Although, Ridgefield has a bigger Republican voter base at 5,803 eligible voters. Only 611 of those registered voted in the primary.
