Southbury man charged after police chase

BROOKFIELD — Mark P. Todd, 19, of Southbury is facing interfering with officers charges stemming from an Aug. 6 police chase through Brookfield.

He is free on $500 court set bond with a next court date of Oct. 14 in Superior Court in Danbury.

Brookfield police attempted to pull over a car on Federal Road Aug. 6 at 3:32 p.m. when the driver was observed talking on a cell phone, police said. The car sped through a parking lot onto Sandy Lane and through a stop sign onto Old Greys Bridge Road to the dead end on that road.

Todd, a passenger in the car, and the driver fled the vehicle on foot, police said. a search ensued with Danbury K-9 teams and Bethel police assisting. The two crossed Still River and Route 7 when Todd was apprehended on Sand Cut Road.

The driver, who had a criminal background, evaded capture, police said. An arrest warrant was applied for him. His name has not been released.

Country Kids Day Care was placed on lock down as it lay in the path of the chase.

No injuries were reported.
