A Danbury man has been charged with stealing more than $44,000 from a home on Crows Nest Lane in August, according to a court affidavit.
On Monday, after a month of investigation, Danbury police arrested Terrell Lewis, 36, for larceny in the first degree.
Lewis, who was living with the victims, stole a large quantity of gold jewelry from the home, the affidavit said. He took the jewelry and pawned it at jewelry store on Newtown Road.
Lewis told an employee of the store that the jewelry belonged to his deceased mother. The jewelry was worth between $44,500 and $48,000, it was re-sold and melted down by the store, the affidavit said.
He was held on a court ordered $25,000 bond and is due in Danbury Superior Court on Oct. 16.
