Connecticut has been ranked as the third richest state in the country by WalletHub.com.
The personal financial advisory website identified the states with the highest and lowest net worth. WalletHub ranked states based on income, gross domestic product per capita and federal taxes paid per capita.
While tied for the third spot with Maryland, Connecticut was in the top five for all three categories including, highest percent of households earning more than $200,000.
Connecticut is home to nine billionaires, according to Forbes 400 List. The list even included one billionaire from Danbury. Peter Buck, the co-founder of Subway Restaurants and ranked #239 on the Forbes list.
The District of Columbia and New Jersey both beat Connecticut by tying at first place. While Alabama, West Virginia and Mississippi were listed as the three poorest states.
