The criminal charge against a Ridgefield bus driver, who was arrested after she left an empty mini liquor bottle in a Scotts Ridge Middle School garbage can, will not be pursued by the State’s Attorney Office.
In Danbury Superior Court on Tuesday, State’s Attorney, Stephen Sedensky dropped the one count of attempted risk of injury to a minor against Kathleen Sweikert, 45.
“There certainly was probable cause in the arrest,” Sedensky said. “We have decided the manner be handled administratively outside the court.”
Sweikert was arrested in May after a school resource officer at Scotts Ridge Middle School spotted her walking out of a bathroom, leaving behind an empty 1.8-ounce bottle, police said.
Sweikert was suspended from the bus company, First Student Inc, and will not drive for Ridgefield schools again.
